June 7th turned out to be a great day to restore a portion of the pond at Grace Church. Thanks to the 30 volunteers who planted and seeded native prairie, wetland, and aquatic plants on the entire east side. With our volunteers’ hard work and great attitude, we accomplished a lot in a short time. Everyone seemed to enjoy working together and caring for creation.
Ecological restoration is a process that requires continuing care to be successful. Weeding and watering are especially critical in the summers of the first year or two of a project. Besides the pond restoration, we also need to continue to care for last year’s prairie and forest restorations.
If you would like to help care for Project Eden’s restoration efforts on the Grace campus this summer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We plan to meet on five Saturdays at 9 a.m., for an hour or two each time. Whether you you can come for one or for more times, we hope you will join us this summer – and bring your friends and family too!
